Meditech purges clinical documentation when a patient is discharged, when purge parameters are met, or when the acuity cutoff timeframe has expired. To retain the documentation, hospitals must print and/or archive the documentation.
Printing the documentation costs time and money (filing and paper costs) and access to the information is limited since it is on a paper record.
