Manager of Technical Support

Description

This position will manage customer support (50%) and be an individual contributor handling escalated technical support issues (50%). Manages all aspects of customer and technical support/service for our products, including performing career and team management, acting as the focus for critical problem escalation, and employing metrics for improving productivity and root cause analysis. This person will also be responsible for providing 2nd level technical support and escalating tickets to 3rd level technical support.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is presently managing a technical support group for a software development company with extensive experience troubleshooting complex escalated issues. This candidate must have excellent technical troubleshooting skills in a complex user environment contributing to timely resolutions of issues.

Job Requirements and Qualifications:
  • BS in Computer Technology or Management.
  • 7+ years solid customer service and software support background with at least 5 years of support management of external customers.
  • 7+ years troubleshooting experience with Windows OS/Server platforms, network protocols and tools including scanners and optical disk systems.
  • Ability to install, troubleshoot and configure various Windows server platforms, (including components such as IIS and SQL Server, RAID).
  • Ability to communicate in a professional manner with customers of all levels (non-technical, technical, executive).
  • Familiarity with Meditech HCIS systems or other hospital environment is a plus.
Responsibilities:
  • Hire, train, and develop technical support staff.
  • Troubleshoot from initial contact to resolution 2nd and 3rd level technical support issues.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Analyze issues/volume and make recommendations/changes to improve productivity.
  • Develop proactive programs to prevent problems.
  • Provide detailed status reports to Valco’s management.
  • Participate in on-call pager rotation.

This Position located in Salem, NH. Occasional travel may be required.

Project Manager - Engineering - Part-time

Position Objective:

Ensure the successful and on-time release of product in accordance with established development project plans. This is a part-time position - approximately 20 hours per week.   Candidates MUST have extensive experience managing software development projects.

Major Responsibilities/Areas of Accountability:

Specific responsibilities for the following areas include:

Planning:
  • Create projected release timelines using Development estimates and Product Management input.
  • Develop integrated work plans with team leads and member input.
  • Identify project constraints and provide constraint management recommendations.
Execution:
  • Monitor day-to-day plan execution
  • Collect and assess project metrics
  • Support scope, cost and schedule management
  • Identify & track issues and risks
  • Compile, communicate and present project status
Delivery:
  • Ensure products meet internal processes and methodology standards
  • Assist Engineering Manager and Product Manager as needed
  • Perform post-project reviews and provide process improvement recommendations
All

Ensure proper project communication and collaboration with internal and external project participants

Specifications/Competencies Required:
  • Requires a B.A./B.S or equivalent experience
  • 2-5 years of Project/Program Management experience on software product projects
  • Experience in managing software development projects is a must

  • Demonstrated collaborative approach in successfully in managing multiple integrated projects
  • Ability to work independently to achieve desired results
  • In depth experience with the Software Development Lifecycle

Systems Engineer

Primary responsibility is to provide configuration and installation assistance to customers. Position is based in our Salem, NH office. 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Responsibility for the configuration and installation of all Valco solutions.
  • Performing the installation of computer, scanning and storage equipment at customer locations.
  • Collaboration with the project team throughout the process of delivering a solution focusing on the technical tasks while maintaining clear understanding of the overall project goals.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective customer relationships; communication with customers on a regular basis regarding system status; follow up with customers regarding critical system problems on a timely basis.
Experience/Skill set:
  • 1-3 years experience in design, development, installation, and maintenance of equipment at the technical level.
  • 1-3 years experience in Information Systems and implementation of high-end systems.
  • Must have knowledge of Microsoft operating systems and core products such as IIS and SQL Server.
  • Must be proficient with the Windows platform, including knowledge in; networking, login procedures, file management and directories, how to invoke programs, use editors, etc.
Educational Experience Required:

Must have BSEE or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.

Position located in Salem, NH with a maximum of 30% travel throughout the United States.

Technical Support Engineer

Description

Provide first-line support for the company’s Healthcare Imaging Software solutions to end users. Individual must demonstrate excellent technical troubleshooting skills as well as excellent communication skills contributing to timely resolutions of complex issues.

The ideal candidate is working for a healthcare-related software supplier, supporting that company’s products in a client-server environment.

Job Requirements and Qualifications
  • BS degree in Computer Technology and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 2+ years solid customer service and software support background.
  • Ability to explain technical information to non-technical end users.
  • Solid understanding of various Windows OS/Server platforms, network protocols and tools.
  • SQL Database knowledge.
  • Ability to articulate current status and issues using good verbal and writing skills.
  • Able to quickly become proficient in the use of Valco software products and other vendor applications required to support problem resolution.
  • Experience installing and configuring Windows OS and related components such as IIS.
  • Familiarity with system hardware, RAID configurations, scanners, and optical disk systems are pluses.
  • Familiarity with Meditech HCIS systems is a plus.
Responsibilities
  • Respond to and resolve issues related to Valco’s suite of applications.
  • Provide phone, email and Internet-based support to clients of all ability levels.
  • Responsible for input and maintenance of case issues using the Company’s trouble ticket system.
  • Assist in maintaining Valco’s knowledge base and FAQs.
  • Monitor and report issues with Valco’s applications.
  • Participate in pager on-call rotation.
